University of Colorado, Boulder Leaf 43
This leaf is from a Dutch Book of Hours from the later fifteenth century, and measures 17.5 x 13 cm. Compared to those of other contemporary Books of Hours, these leaves are somewhat plain; the text is dark black, with (as Ege notes) an even darker tone created by the closely-spaced lines. The latter contrasts nicely with the alternating red and blue initialing and feathery tracery, some of which is in violet. The vellum of several leaves is puckered outside the text block. See Denison University Leaf 43 for more information about this manuscript.

salutáre Dei nostri. Jubiláte Deo, omnis terra; cantáte, et exsultáte, et psállite. Psállite Dómino in cíthara; in cíthara et voce psalmi; in tubis ductílibus, et voce tubæ córneæ. Jubiláte in conspéctu regis Dómini: moveátur mare, et plenitúdo ejus; orbis terrárum, et qui hábitant in eo. Flúmina plaudent manu; simul montes exsultábunt a conspéctu Dómini: quóniam venit judicáre terram. Judicábit orbem terrárum in justítia, et pópulos in æquitáte. ii. Psalmus.
Dóminus regnávit: irascántur pópuli; qui sedet super chérubim: moveátur terra. Dóminus in Sion magnus, et excélsus super omnes pópulos. Confiteántur nómini tuo
[Psalms 97:3-9] ...the salvation of our God. 4 Sing joyfully to God, all the earth; make melody, rejoice and sing. 5 Sing praise to the Lord on the harp, on the harp, and with the voice of a psalm: 6 with long trumpets, and sound of cornet. Make a joyful noise before the Lord our king: 7 let the sea be moved and the fulness thereof: the world and they that dwell therein. 8 The rivers shall clap their hands, the mountains shall rejoice together 9 at the presence of the Lord: because he cometh to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with justice, and the people with equity. 2. psalm.
[Psalms 98:1-3] The Lord hath reigned, let the people be angry: he that sitteth on the cherubims: let the earth be moved. 2 The Lord is great in Sion, and high above all people. 3 Let them give praise to thy great name...
